Opinion Poll of Office
Market Participants
I
periodically poll 50 or so professionals who are involved in commercial real
estate. They are asked to express their opinion on a variety of aspects of
Portsmouth’s office market, both in terms of how it has performed over the past six months, and how they expect it
to perform over the next six months.
The response rate has been very good (60%±). The results are summarized below. The
results of the most recent survey were posted in early October.
What
you see below is fairly self-explanatory; these are the average of the replies
to each question. A key to the responses appears at the bottom of the page. The perception of the past six months by respondents
shows very slight increases in demand to own office space, but a decrease in demand
by tenants. Thoughts about the next six months are clearly pessimistic.
These
are the sorts of interesting observations I hope this poll will reveal,
particularly with regards to trends. Therefore, if you did participate, thank
you, please keep doing so. If you were asked, but did not respond, please
do when I contact you in the Spring. If you weren’t
asked, but would like to be, please let me know.
